IZEEM PORT
Tetrace Offshore and Heavy Lift is developing the IZEEM Port project, which is part of the 2nd call for IDEAS of the Ports 4.0 program promoted by Puertos del Estado.
The IZEEM Port project consists of the definition of a multipurpose marine foundation infrastructure for the development of new technologies in port waters. This foundation is designed to serve as a platform on which to arrange the required systems, whether prototypes, laboratories or signaling buoys, quickly and economically and avoiding the use of specialized vessels. This project has focused on the use of IZEEM Port to house a 4.5 MW offshore wind turbine.
It is a self-installable system, since, unlike the usual scheme of installing the anchoring system in independent campaigns, IZEEM Port's technology will integrate the connection systems between the afloat part and the part anchored to the bottom, thus becoming in a self-installing system.
Throughout the project, the hydrodynamic behavior of the device in various sea states has been studied, obtaining positive results for different locations on the Spanish coast.
The concrete manufacturing strategy using sliding formwork allows for an optimized and less expensive construction process compared to steel manufacturing. Manufacturing times are significantly reduced, which has a very positive impact on the reduction of LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy).
It is also a highly scalable technology. The results of the theoretical economic study have shown a considerable reduction in costs per unit manufactured for commercial parks, which could be developed not in port environments, but in locations further from the coast, where the wind resource will be even higher and, therefore, the LCOE will be optimized.
